I have a newborn.
He was 3 weeks on Monday.

We have a pack and play beside the bed with a little portable bassinet thing that goes on it and I put him in that the first night but after the first time he woke up in the night I just put him right next to me and that's where he sleeps!

We have a boppy pillow.. it's kinda shaped like a horse shoe or something. They say you're not supposed to leave him to sleep inthat because he could slide down and roll over and suffocate in the sides of it but my baby doesn't move much and we snuggle him up in it so it's hard to him to roll over.

During the day, when we take naps, I use a pillow and lay on my side and he curls up next to me into my body.

There's nothing wrong with sleeping with him. You can't roll over and smash him unless you drink heavily or something liek that.

The only thing bad about sleeping with him (and I hear it all the time from EVERYONE but ignore it because i can't help it--i love to sleep with him), is that he is going to get so used to it and never want to sleep in hsi bed.
It will be hard to break him of it when he is a toddler.

my son slept in a bassinet in the bedroom with my partner and myself, but this was my partners wish not mine. after 6 weeks i put him in his own room, and at night when he'd wake (if he did) I'd just get him walk into the living room n feed him there then return him to his bed. if you are worried about not hearing the baby because of the distance between rooms, buy a baby monitor, makes it easy to wake up if its next to your bed head.

the only thing i worry about co sleeping when there is more then 1 other person in the bed, is that the child will get rolled on top of.

I used a snuggle nest and it was so cozy for my baby. Sometimes I would put him on the bassinett and or next to me on the bed and yes there were many days where he would snuggle into my arms and sleep.

For the 1st week or so after our 2nd child was born, my husband slept on the couch and the baby slept in our bed beside me and I also kept the carseat on the bed and the baby slept in that too. We then bought a portable graco play yard that has a bassinett and changing table, we kept it in our room for about 4 months, it worked great. She now sleeps through the night in her own room in her crib.

My baby is 2 1/2 months old and she sleeps in a craddle at the side of the bed untill she wakes up then I bring her into bed and nurse her and we fall back to sleep. I found a craddle for a really great price at a second hand shop for children's cloths. Also check craigslist, they have just about anything and you can check in your area. Also they make a sleeper that you place in bed between you and your husband, though those seem big and if you dont have a big bed there may be trouble. The safest place is in a craddle at the side of your bed.

If you want you can always try what my sister does, right now she has her baby in her room and she couldn't afford a bassinet either so what she uses is the pack n play, and he has always slept soundly in there.

We used the "mini-cosleeper" made by Arm's Reach. It was perfect and space efficient and he was able to sleep in it until he started pulling up to standing.

My son stayed in our bed for the first little while that he was a newborn. It really is a lot more convenient for nursing and night wakings. We moved him to his own room at around four months, when his wakings became less frequent.
