My son was the same way, he was still able to build arm and core strength, the only thing that it slowed down was when he finally rolled over.

Alot of newborns hate tummy time. Just keep at it, every so often put her down there with things to look at, toys, pictures, etc so that she doesn't get bored.

You can also do tummy time on your chest. Just recline your self a bit, and put her on your chest on her tummy. That way you are near her, she can feel you and see you and she might take to it better. Also she will be able to look up and see you and that might encourage her to get practice. I did this until my daughter felt more comfortable doing tummy time on the floor or in the playpen.

Good Luck

Don't worry about it. My daughter is 4 1/2 months old and I was asking the same question last month. She screamed bloody murder when put onto her stomach. I tried getting on the floor with her, spreading toys around the floor, and so on. She wanted no parts of it. Regardless I made sure I put her on her stomach every day even if it was for 10 seconds. Now, she will stay on her tummy for about 5-10 minutes at a time before screaming. She does wonderfully too considering the lack of tummy time in the past months. She has even started rolling from her stomach to back. Just be persistent and know that if she doesnt have much tummy time at 2 1/2 months it wont do much harm. She will still strengthen. Good luck

My daughter never liked tummy time until about four months old. And that was when she wanted to be on her belly. She was trying to start crawling. Best bet would be to try tummy time every day for just a few minutes, and only do it after she has been fed, but not to soon after because then it could upset her stomach, you want her to be content when you try.

don't worry about it right now, if she doesn't like it. Try it agin in another couple of weeks, for short periods. She'll eventually learn to like being on her tummy.
