Lower back (spine) is hurting a lot…especially today! HELP!?
I am only 19, and not over weight (in shape) and my lower back is hurting over the past few days. Today is worse.
To me honest, by showers and neck are sore, too because of my pillow.
My bed is fine, but I don’t know whats causing this back pain.
I have 2 exams on saturday….so I have been sitting on my chair, studying. It doesn’t support my back, as I am usually at the edge of the chair. Also, if i bend backwards or foreward….I can really feel it.
Should I take painkillers? (They don’t really work for me)
What do I do?

You need to go see a good Chiropractor, you also need to get a good supportive chair for studying in, get up and stretch periodically every 30-60 minutes with constant sitting, take motrin or ibuprophin for pain every 4 hours and put a good ice pack on your low back as you are laying flat on your back with your feet elevated on a firm bed or floor. That really takes the strain off your back.
I LOVE my chiropractor – you must be doing something to cause the back strain. Go see one and you’ll love the adjustment too.
Accupuncture can help with ur back pain. U should try taking Tai Chi lessons. Tai Chi is a martial art with many health benefits. Over time it can heal ur back.
Before you start to take pain killers, find out why you are having this lower back pain. Yes, I would see a chiropractor as well. They will do a consult, examination and do lumbar x-rays if necessary.
Also having a good supportive cervical pillow is important. This will help to align your head and neck while sleeping and keep you from straining your neck and upper back muscles. Here is a good neck pillow for sleeping: Cervical Linear Traction Neck Pillow: http://www.arc4life.com/site/615058/page/158456
It sounds like you may have a lumbar sprain/stain. This can occur from sleeping in an awkward position at night, falling, repetitive sitting, bad posture and other awkward movements.
At age 19, it is not wise to be taking pain killers regularly. Get this checked out asap. Hope this helps.
