8 months pregnant and have a 12,000-word dissertation to finish?

Author: I get extremely uncomfortable every which way I sit — on the desk, upright on the bed with the laptop in front of me, even with lots of pillows to support my back — I don’t know what to do and I’m losing my mind a little. What should I do?? =(
I have to get this done before my deadline (Dec 15)!
Is there any other posture I can try?

Could you dictate it? You talk and a friend types for you? That way you could get in whatever position is most comfortable for you and they could type. Maybe your best friend, a sibling, a parent or your spouse….
Well of course you have a problem with your laptop, you have no lap!
But seriously… laptos usually take a regular keyboard; maybe you could even use a wireless one. That way you don’t have to prop that weight up right in front of you – assuming your eyesight is OK. If not, if you are just typing, also set the resolution down (640 by 480?) so you can put the screen further away from you. Learn the windows key controls (CTL-ESC, ALT-TAB, hold shift down to select text with cursor, CTL-C for copy, CTL-V for paste etc.) so you don’t need a mouse much, or use a wireless laser mouse too.

I can’t imagine being 8 months pregnant and having to finish up a dissertation. I’m sorry to hear no matter what you try out is not helping you. I will offer one suggestion. As I love to work on my laptop while on the couch or lying in bed, my wrists and back use to bother me no matter what position I tried. Someone at work recommended I use a laptop desk. I had never heard of them prior, but I ended up ordering one, was only around $30, and it has been my savior when I no longer feel like sitting at my desk to do my computer work. Since you have a little over a month left to finish up, you may want to try one of those desks to help you get through your dissertation.
